Someone asked me recently what my greatest accomplishment was. It isn’t the first time I’ve been asked that question, and whenever I am asked I feel completely overwhelmed! I often compare myself to those that have accomplished things that inspire millions, and find my own accomplishments lacking… I mean, it isn’t like I invented the light bulb, or discovered antibiotics, or invented the recipe for kombucha.
And yet, I know have accomplished A LOT of amazing things. I have overcome some major life challenges, and consistently focus on being the best person I can be. I have a great life today, despite the ups and downs (or maybe because of them). This brings another challenge… how do I choose just ONE thing? The greatest thing?! All of them mean so much to me!
So I dig, and I reflect, and eventually and I find the answer. For me it’s not the things on the outside, the challenges I have overcome… it’s the fact that every day, I “choose” to be the person I want to be. I choose to step outside my comfort zone and do the things I have always dreamed of. I choose to share my authentic self with others, the pretty and the ugly, with the hope that people will feel accepted and loved for who they are. I choose to do what I want, when I want, and with who I want. My heart is in everything I do. My greatest accomplishment is that every day, I “choose” to live by my values, I “choose” to accept, I “choose” to grow, I “choose” to love, and I live those values every day to create a vision for who I want to be.
If you are struggling to think of what your greatest accomplishment is like I was, this might help you; look back over your life and remember everything you are proud of, every time you followed your heart, every time you made a choice that both scared and exhilarated you. Underneath those things are your values, your motives, your heart, and your opportunity to inspire others.
